A few easy things to change
In the modDesc xml, remove the foldable, hookLiftTrailer, cover and tensionBelts specializations. They should be loaded by default now but you will need the pallet autoloader one.
In the vehicle xml, remove the function $l10n_function_OLDtruck. Don't know what it does but no need to over complicate things. In the base section, replace the schemaOverlay section with the line from a Mack truck xml.
In the sound line, replace externalSoundFile with filename. In the fillUnit section, change unit to unitTextOverride. (the pallet loading line already has it done)
Copy the exhaust section from a Mack xml and replace existing section.
Copy the ai section from a Mack and replace the existing ai part. Be sure to change the collision trigger to aiCollisionTrigger. Just leave the numbers as is.
That should fix 95% of your problems
