Welcome to Farms of Madison County. This is a real terrain 4X map based in Madison County Illinois a few miles north of the town of Edwardsville. The map is loosely based aroung the early to mid 1990s. This is the area that I grew up farming with my father and grandfather. There is about a half dozen playable farms, several smaller farms, and a couple horse farms.
No matter what level you start at you will have starting equipment ready to go along with a lot of animal husbandries and grain silos. The only thing starting on the low or beginner level will gain you is around a $2 million land tract. There is several individual fields to purchase but most are clumped together in tracts like they were in real life (so a lot of the fields you want you will have to buy the whole farm) There is a 119 fields total all with missions and quite a few of them can be plowed together.
The map is vanilla crops. The terrain varies from flat to rolling prairies, hills, and creek bottoms. There is plenty of trees for people who want to do some logging including large clumps of pines and spruces hidden in some of the forested areas (I hid them in the other trees because they are not there in real life).
You will need to put the map and other two mods in your mods folder to get the best experince. The gates mod is so that the gates show up in the map. The place anywhere mod is only to keep from getting an error. The map works without it but you will get an error in the log. If you try to run the map unzipped in your mods folder you may get some texture issues, just zip it back up when your playing and it should be fine. This is a large map with long boring roads so I highly recommend getting the latest version of CoursePlay at Github or simalar mod.
I have a decent desktop with a Nvidia GeForce Gtx 980 and runs the map well with no frame drops except when I get near large groups of trees with a lot of equipment in one spot.
I would like to thank everyone that either helped me or I borrowed items from to make The Farms Of Madison County, Dorset, ShyWizard, naPalm, Giants, and especially DR modding and their UMRV map and Seth Schultz at Midwest Mapping and his Wonowoc map. And mostly want to thank my son who I have bombarded with questions about computers and issues I have had making this map and my wife who has allowed me the time to do this with out complaing about all the hours I have put into it.
I have used a lot of mods over the years and this is my contribution back to the modding comunnity. You are more than welcome to download, upload, edit, modify, or share this map. Possibly in the future I may make a V2 with two towns, more sell points, traffic, and trains, but that won't be anytime soon, maybe the winter of 2019/2020. I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I did making it.

I would not give every level starting equipment it limits the number of potential players to your map away from you. Not everyone wants everything or an easy experience.
First off, Thank you for this map. Very well put together and planed. The way the farms and neighboring community are, its spot on. It is the best true to life map I have seen in a long while. I know that the map was based on Illinois area, but it reminds me of most farm areas with in the US. When I first started to drive around, the first thought was, it was like drive around Spring Church or Indiana county in PA. The level of detail around all the homesteads are incredible. This is the most realistic map I've ever played on, great job. The only problem is there's no flat fields to build a farm on, so I haven't farmed yet
For some reason it won't show up in my game and I watched a few vids to see if I could figure out the problem and they all said something about the mod desc. When I open the mod file I don't see it in the file. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
When i open the map on single player i have sell points. Once i put the map on my server the sell point areas are still there but we have no way to tell prices. Is there a fix to this problem?

When I go to download this map it downloads in 10 minutes. I'll click on it once it downloads and the folder is empty and I have done this 4 or 5 times. wondering why or something I could try to fix this. help would be appreciated.
Very nice map...I like...but i dont like static animals and I agree with UMM. I only play on Farm-Manager or start from scratch mod...

Really nice US map. Big and open. Agree with what some have said about the static animals. Looks a bit weird. I think (for me, anyway) it could do with some traffic/AI and i didn't see a BGA?. Hope you continue to add to this map as it looks really good so far.

I can't get the map to run. It downloads fine, I can select the map and the mods show up but after that I never get past the loading screen. I even let it go 30 minutes and still there. Not having this issue with any other map regardless of size.

Looks interesting. When I start playing 19 again I'll d/l it. Was born and raised in Alton. Aunt & Uncle lived in Edwardsville. Moved away in 1969 when I was 16

oldfarmer yes you need to put the place anywhere mod in the mods folder to keep from getting this error. seems to run fine without the mod but you will get those errors.
Great map. Already have a few hours on it. Only issue I have run into is that the main road that runs north to south has seams in the road pieces that stick up that the lowboy trailers get stuck on and go flying. Other than that, this is the best map I have played on in a long time.

Very nice job, thank you. Don't worry about those asking for all kinds of changes because it's not to their liking. They should probably make a map themselves so they can have 'exactly' what they want in a map.

I can't wait to play this map! I live just East of Edwardsville off 143 west of Marine. I am not familiar with making mods or things of such and have been looking for a map just like this!

This is my favorite map so far, challenging terrain, high quality and great job on details, It would be the greatest map made with a few more things added to it, Since it is American map add mowable alfalfa, beef cows on pasture ground not static but buy and sell, and make it 8x or 16x , but what a great job on this, I appreciate your time and effort, keep up the great work and keep developing look forward to anything else you make, currently have app 40 hrs on the map, no errors or issues
one more thing don't add BGA that's not a common in USA add a ethanol plant would be more appropriate, and that goes out to all who making USA style maps, nothing worse then seeing a map with euro style facilities in USA map.
Im from Madison County and Its sorta like this it really is but its mostlyh 4 feilds a farm then a tiny town then more of fields

Absolutely excellent map, but one thing I have to say: Where is the xml that shows where the fill types are? I want to use MaizePlus with both extensions, Seasons, GlobalCompany, and Straw Harvest Addon, as well as a couple other things, but I can't find where the XML is to add more filltypes. I've looked through the whole file but can't find it. otherwise it's a great map!
